SUMMARY:SSC/RYC Delta Ditch Run
DESCRIPTION:One of the most popular races of the year\, the Delta Ditch Run is a long\, almost-all-downwind\, race from Richmond to Stockton.  You can usually fly the spinnaker almost the whole way\, except for one bend in the river just past Antioch.  Enjoy the change in scenery and finish in nice and warm temperatures in Stockton\, where the Stockton Sailing Club hosts a nice barbecue party.  There is often a beautiful sunset behind you in the Delta along the way.  Conditions are often gentle\, and the race can be slow\, but beware that we sometimes get strong winds in this race.  Make sure to say in the channel to avoid sand bars\, and be prepared to jibe often if you’re flying an asymmetric spinnaker!  Most competitors with trailerable boats stage the trailer in Stockton\, haul out after the race\, and drive back home again.  Total race distance:  70 NM.
